Elephant Asset Management (EAM)

EAM invest in publicly traded small-/mid-cap stocks in emerging markets. The investment approach is deeply fundamental, based on in-depth, on-the-ground due diligence. The team invests in a maximum of 25 companies in countries across Asia and Africa; companies that are typically at an early stage in their lifecycle and that are building a sustainable moat around their business models. Social and environmental responsibility, as well as good corporate governance, are critical attributes in the team’s stock selection (EAM does not invest in extractive industries). Holdings are off-benchmark with many of them sparsely (if at all) covered by sell-side analysts. By staying away from the mainstream, the investment team unveils companies with attractive risk-return profiles and often low correlation to their underlying markets.

The EAM team is headed by Christina McGuire who has 20 years experience in investing in global equity markets. Christina started her career as a medical doctor in various emerging markets before joining Goldman Sachs Asset Management where she worked first as a research analyst, then portfolio manager for 10 years. She ran a similar strategy to EAM at her previous fund.
